Methodology, sources & limits
Monthly figures are editorial estimates for a mid-range ('balanced') single adult, compiled from public sources and typical market ranges. They are ESTIMATES and ranges, not live or official data. Always verify current prices before making decisions.
Figures are estimates for guidance only. Actual costs vary by neighbourhood, timing, season and personal choices. Not financial, legal or tax advice.

Frequently asked questions
How much money do I need to move to Spain?
It depends on your city, household and lifestyle. As a rough guide, a single person renting a one-bedroom flat typically needs €1,300–€2,200/month, plus an upfront moving budget (deposit, first rent, the move itself and an emergency fund) that often lands between €4,000 and €9,000. Use the calculator above for a personalised estimate.
Is this calculator accurate?
The figures are editorial estimates compiled from public sources and typical market ranges (reviewed 2026-02), not live data. They're designed to give a realistic ballpark. Actual costs vary by neighbourhood, season and personal choices — always verify current prices before deciding.
Which cities are included?
We currently cover 12 Spanish cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Málaga, Alicante, Sevilla, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Granada, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. More will be added as we validate data for them.
Does it include the cost of buying a home?
Yes — switch to 'Buy' for a rough, clearly-labelled estimate that assumes a mortgage with configurable defaults plus purchase taxes and fees. Buying costs vary a lot by region, so treat it as a starting point.
Do you store my income or answers?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your optional net income is only used on your device to show your monthly balance — it's never sent to a server or saved.
