How we score cities

City dimension scores are normalised 0–100 editorial ratings based on public knowledge, official airport/transport data and widely reported expat experience. They express relative fit, NOT official rankings or probabilities. Climate, environment and language fit are computed from your answers at run time. Healthcare and safety are shown as 'not scored' because reliable, comparable per-city indicators are not available here.

Scored dimensions

affordability, housing, climate, environment, transport, connectivity, lifestyle, employment, education, community, language

Shown as “not scored”

healthcare, safety — no reliable per-city indicators.

A match score is an affinity estimate, not a guarantee or statistical probability. Always research a city in person before relocating.

Frequently asked questions

How does the city matcher work?

You answer 11 quick questions about your budget, lifestyle, work, climate and family. A deterministic scoring engine rates each city 0–100 on dimensions like affordability, climate fit, transport and expat community, weights them by what you said matters most, and ranks your best matches. It's transparent and reproducible — the same answers always give the same result.

Is the match score a guarantee?

No. A match score is an affinity estimate based on your stated preferences and our editorial city data — not a statistical probability or official ranking. Always research a city in person before relocating.

Which cities can it recommend?

It currently covers 12 Spanish cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Málaga, Alicante, Sevilla, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Granada, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. We only include cities once we have enough data to compare them fairly.

Why aren't healthcare and safety scored?

Because we don't have reliable, comparable per-city indicators for them. Rather than invent a neutral score, we leave them out and say so — Spain's public healthcare is national, and local safety varies by neighbourhood.

No. Everything runs in your browser. You can share your results with a link, but it never includes personal data.
